“We are the sum total of our experiences. Those experiences – be they positive or negative – make us the person we are, at any given point in our lives. And, like a flowing river, those same experiences, and those yet to come, continue to influence and reshape the person we are, and the person we become. None of us are the same as we were yesterday, nor will be tomorrow.”
― B.J. Neblett
Life experiences are your best asset in your life.
We all have experiences in life, some good, some bad or unpleasant. Life is sometimes hard, and things don’t always go as planned. During those moments you have a choice to make, you can either give into the circumstances or use those experiences as a life lesson and overcome them. Using those negative experiences make you a stronger person. Our life lessons are one of life’s most valuable teachers, they show us ourselves, teach us about life, and show us our possibilities.
Move ahead and make sure that the life lessons, those things that you’ve learned, and the things that you’ve seen in your life are remembered as the teachers that show us path of who we can be. Reflection in our lives is something that shouldn’t be done once a year, if so we miss out on the opportunities those experiences bring us. Those stories that we interact with on a daily basis can be an inspiration and the groundwork for us becoming better human beings both personally and professionally.
Trying new experiences helps you connect with people. One of the most prominent aspects of your communication abilities is being able to develop rapport and deepen conversations with people you meet by identifying common interests and similarities between the two of you.
Trying new experiences is not only inspirational, they can make you comfortable with change and transition. If you do the same old thing week in week out you’re going to struggle to find inspiration more so than a person who goes to new places, explores the world and actively seeks inspiration in the form of experiences.
Inspiration is what gives us motivation, persistence and creativity. All great ideas are inspired from experiencing something. If you want to turbocharge your creativity and inspiration, start by trying some new experiences.
Trying new experiences expands your comfort zones. When you try new things, even as little as trying a new dish that you’ve never had before you expand your comfort zones, which makes other day-to-day challenges seem less significant or challenging.
Having expanded comfort zones will help you in so many walks of life, especially in your career as it allows you to comfortably manage what other people would be too afraid to do. You will be calmer around problems and issues because you will have developed a bigger perspective.
